Mirror Margarita is a crystal clear twist on the classic margarita cocktail which when served looks like a glass of water, but is in fact a stunning margarita with the perfect balance of sweet and sour notes.
Inspired to create a cocktail that was familiar in both name and taste but strikingly different in appearance, the cocktail is a hybrid margarita with the taste of a straight up classic but served on the rocks in the style of a Tommy’s Margarita. At its heart is the agave plant and a recipe that heroes the natural taste rather than masking it with lime and salt.
The agave plant, the basis of all Tequila and Mezcal spirits, is a truly incredible and unique plant. One of the most important considerations when creating the Mirror Margarita was the expression of natural flavours that come from the plant itself. For this reason instead of lime we use malic acid as a sour in a homemade sour mix; this acid naturally occurs at nighttime during the life span of the plant and is a natural sour that not too many people know about or use in margaritas. By using malic acid and a careful selection of natural citrus oils it allows the flavours of the Mirror Margarita to be more harmonious than in any other margarita.
Mirror Margarita was created by Deano Moncrieffe as the signature serve of award winning agave spirits bar Hacha in London. Deano has worked with luxury Tequila and Mezcal brands for over a decade and is widely respected as an expert in all things agave. His global travels as a Brand Ambassador for such brands as Don Julio and Casamigos have enabled him to taste margaritas from some of the worlds finest bars and inspired him to create one that would become a reimagined and modern version of this iconic cocktail.
